AllPro Tuesday’s TIP 4-23-2024
When fishing a Flutter Spoon use these basic techniques.

1. Determine if the conditions are right for a Flutter Spoon or what type of Spoon you’ll need.
a) Water Depth
b) Current
c) Marking Bait or Species

2. Should you use the 9” 5oz Flutter Pro Spoon or are the conditions best for the 6” 4oz FatCat Spoon?
General Guidance; Use the 5oz 9” Flutter Pro in water deeper than 30 feet and work the seabed area. Use the FatCat in waters less than 30 feet to work the seabed area OR if you see the action is on top or mid-water column, again use the FatCat

3. The 5oz Flutter Pro Flutter Spoon is your traditional flutter spoon. Tie a Teaser 18”-24” above the spoon (no bait). Mark the fish or bait, drop the 5oz Flutter Pro down to the bottom. We like the 3 Tap Method. Tap the spoon off the bottom 3x with moderate jerks of the rod tip. Then reel it up ½ way through the water column, free spool it back down to the bottom, and tap spoon on the bottom 3X, before reeling it up again ½ way through the water column. Free spool back to bottom and repeat process. If you don’t get any hits after 5 drops, MOVE! Or if you are certain fish are there, try a different lure. When fish are active on Flutter Spoons you are likely to get a hit within 5 drops of the spoon. If not, it’s best to move and find another pod or school of fish or try dropping down a Slow Pitch Jig like the AllPro Flutter Bait. Sometimes, Bass just want the MEAT, and you’ll have to live-line a bunker instead.

4. The 4oz FatCat Flutter Spoon is much more versatile and it can adapt to several different conditions. In the traditional sense, you can use the 3 Tap Method as noted above by tying a teaser above the spoon and fishing the spoon in water depths less than 30 feet. The FatCat is a much slower sinking spoon due to its weight and design. Or you can take advantage of this spoon’s casting ability and more importantly its ability to be retrieved within a foot of the surface with a slow and even retrieval. This is perfect if you see an active feed on TOP of the water surface. You can cast and retrieve this spoon and work it through the active feed (pod). The FatCat is a more stable style spoon that allows you to maintain the proper presentation during faster drifts, thus you can work this spoon in shallower water or skinny water, over shoals and drop offs. Pro Tip: If you drift over a shoal and you mark the drop-off, FREE SPOON the FatCat in this area. The design of the spoon will make the spoon swim backwards towards the fish that are following it or sitting in that deeper water.

Good Luck. Let us know how you did!
